• Introduction about the Association
The Egyptian Association for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology is an Egyptian scientific association and a registered civil organization officially recognized by the ministry responsible for community work in the Arab Republic of Egypt. It is registered under number 12011 on November 30, 2023, in accordance with Law 149 of the year 2019. Its geographical scope of work covers the entire republic, specializing in cultural, scientific, economic development, environmental protection, and conservation, as well as the field of organization and management.
• Establishment
The idea of establishing the association dates back to 2017, when it was presented for the first time in closed meetings attended by volunteers among Egyptian biotechnologists who were determined to establish it. However, the idea faced many financial, organizational, administrative, and legal difficulties due to the lack of similar experience in this context. Despite this, hopes were renewed in November 2022 with a new invitation from the association's president to all founders who enthusiastically responded to the idea, and the circumstances helped bring the idea to fruition this time.
• Mission
The founders aspire, through this association, to be a powerhouse in the field of biotechnology in Egypt and the wider Arab and African regions. This ambitious goal will be realized by tapping into the energy and creativity of young minds, truly turning the association into a force to be reckoned with. The founders aim to seize the bull by the horns, harnessing the arms and minds of these young talents, creating bridges of communication not only between them but also between them and decision-makers, paving the way for a dynamic and collaborative future in the realm of biotechnology.
• Vision
We aspire to present a futuristic proposal for the field of biotechnology in Egypt that revolves around building and economically developing local communities. Leveraging our ideas, capabilities, and potentials as specialists in the field, we also aim to build the Egyptian cadres in this field and contribute to creating a more interconnected and collaborative academic and professional community.
